In the early afternoon of Summer Solstice 2011, we opened our doors for the first time on James St. North in Hamilton, ON. Humblepie’s Emporium and Design Studio offers an interesting array of curious, odd & eclectic, vintage and upcycled merchandise; much of it inspired by the blues culture and jazz era of the the last century. From lady’s and gentlemen’s vintage fashion finds & exquisite hats, to rare music-themed books, apothecary alchemy, collectible bar-ware, kitsch, whimsical, upcycled design creations (including featured artisans) and custom painted furniture and interior decorative details. We do in-home consultation & projects. We are proud to say we are authorized retailers of CeCe Caldwell Chalk & Clay Paints and Finishes.
Humblepie features a working design studio work-space and music area within the shop that includes an in-house piano and upright bass for private lessons & recitals, live music performance and session work. Creative, upcycling workshops and chalk & clay paint classes & special events such as live music nights, couple’s project ideas and birthday parties are also featured. Please contact us for details.
.The second Friday of every month brings the infamous James North Art Crawl. This self-guided festivity celebrates the boundless creativity of our arts and design community. Occurring year round, the street fills with hundreds of people in winter and swells to several thousand during the summer months. There are buskers and artists & indie pop up shops selling their wares. The galleries have their new exhibits in place and all the creative studios open their doors to the public for tours. The cafes, restaurants and little bars are packed and the interesting shops stay open until after 11 pm. Art Crawls are always a special time at Humblepie. We offer complimentary live jazz during the evening, where the shop takes on a magic of it’s own. Truly, a wonderful time for us all!
